Our Mission

"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves"

Mission: The Yellow Horse Revolution

Inspired by the spirit of resistance and justice embodied by the European Yellow Vest protests and movement of 2018, the Yellow Horse Revolution stands as a voice for those who cannot speak — the horses.
Just as the Yellow Vests rose against systems that failed the people, the Yellow Horse Revolution rises against traditions and industries that continue to fail the horse.

This movement was founded by Josepha Guillaume

A lifelong horse welfare advocate, pioneering trainer of Classical, Bitless & In-Hand Dressage, and award-winning author whose writings and teachings have inspired thousands to choose positive motivation over dominance, freedom over force, and basic needs met over traditional ease.

As Josepha retired, a growing group of Horse‑First experts from around the globe are graciously donating their insightful contributions — in writing, designing, publishing, and photography.

You can find all of them in our colophon. If you would like to offer a contribution, please do not hesitate to email us.

A Voice for Horses

The magazine offers a platform for experts who align with the 5F movement:

Freedom, Friends, Forage, Force‑Free & Free Feet

In this way, we aim to reach all parts of the equine industry, both professional and leisure, and offer them the knowledge and inspiration to transform their businesses, management, training, and yards on a foundation that starts from the horse’s basic needs and a Horse‑First approach—step by step.

The Yellow Horse Revolution is not just a philosophy

It is a global movement. A return to meeting basic needs while pushing for a new era of Horsemanship in the 21st century based on:
Freedom, Friends, Forage, Force-Free & Free Feet.
A call to restore dignity to the horse — and to ourselves.

Join us,
for the love of Horses,
for the love of Knowledge,
for the love of Freedom.

It is our goal to support Horses in Need

Support Horses in Need Foundation directly

At present, the magazine is run by a group of volunteers. We have costs, but no revenue.

However, as the magazine grows, we aim to pay our writers and contributors for their work, and to support the Horses Need Help Foundation in the Netherlands with every issue sold.

This sanctuary is home to around 21 senior, disabled, and injured horses, cared for with immense dedication — often by founder Petra alone. Despite her tireless efforts, the shelter continually faces financial hardship.

We hope to ease some of this burden in the future.

This way, the Horse First message will have double impact.

The horses at the shelter appear in every issue. You can choose to help the foundation directly by distantly adopting a horse or by making a monthly contribution, starting from just €1. Every euro counts!
